I have been living with asthma since the day I was born. I was in the hospital on every birthday,Christmas, and Easter, when I was little. My 9th grade year of High School I had a severe asthma attack and I was rushed to my local hospital and they could not help me, so I was air lifted to Atlanta Children’s Hospital and was in there for almost two weeks. With my severe asthma I am limited to many things, but I do not want to be limited on the choice to go to collefe because of financial struggles. I would really appreciate any kind of support.

I have had asthma since I was born. Dealing with asthma as an athlete has been very challenging. I have played 4 years of Varsity Football with this condition. It was very difficult to run wind sprints and long distances with asthma. I did not want the coach think I was a quitter or weak when the team would run, so I just kept running even with my condition. I had my inhaler and it helped me a lot. I suffered with this illness throughout my athletic career but did NOT let it overcome me. I would very much APPRECIATE any and all scholarship monies that you can offer me so that I may attend college and advance in my education. Thank you very much. Dustin

    Dustin,

I would concentrate on those disability scholarships which you can apply to where the qualifying criteria states that you must have a documented disability to apply to it. You will have many choices to apply to. There is not lots of asthma scholarships to apply to compared to the 100’s of general disability scholarships you can apply to. Also talk directly to the FinAids office of the college your interested in attending to see what general disability programs they have which you can apply for. Contact the many asthma organizations which support people with asthma and see if they sponsor asthma scholarship programs. I bet they do.
