They are also a no-profit created in 1953 as a charity. Since the beginning they have passed out more than 20 million in educational awards. They rely on contributions from people who feel strongly about the well being of this industry.

The AH&LEF has academic unclaimed college scholarships for incoming freshman to graduate students. Hotel employees have access to these as well along with minorities too, but all hospitality management students can apply for them.

Some AH&LEF scholarships have a minimum GPA standard, while others do not. Part time as well as full time students are free to apply; but ALL must be hospitality management majors in order to win.

The awards go from as little as $500 to $6000 and it takes very little time to apply too.

The HACER Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Scholarships are made available through the charitable work of McDonalds and are unknown minority scholarships.

The HACER Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Scholarships are made available through the charitable work of McDonald’s. The company’s non-profit company, Ronald McDonald House, has had its hands in the scholarship game for quite some time and the HACER program is just one of their several available programs. Ronald McDonald House has been working with disadvantaged students for since the mid-1980s and has served many students with what they need to get through school. Like many of their programs the RMHC scholarship is given out to through Ronald McDonald House chapters located around the country. Local chapters are normally set up to help disadvantaged children get around or through their disabilities, and the organization as a whole has a long and successful history doing this. While the organization did originate in the United States, it has long since expanded into other countries where it offers its assistance where it can. As of 2011 the non-profit is in 52 different countries providing services to the disabled and infirm. Though their work does take them around the world, the RMHC HACER Scholarships are focused in the United States and also accepted around the country whether a local chapter exists or not.

First thing to understand about the RMHC/HACER Scholarships is that it is a targeted unknown minority scholarship. It focuses on students of Hispanic origin who want to pursue their dreams of higher education. Students will need to have at least a 2.7 grade point average, be a United States resident, and can be applying for the HACER scholarship only. All applicants will also need to be a current high school senior who is planning to enroll in a 2 or four year institution of higher education. These requirements must be considered on top of the general eligibility guidelines as provided by Ronald McDonald House charities. General guidelines require verification of enrollment at an institution and that all applicants are under the age of 21.In order to be considered for the Ronald McDonald House Charities HACER Scholarship Program all application materials must be submitted no later than January 28.

Of course students will want to know the relative amount of a Ronald McDonald House Charities HACER Scholarship Program. Every year the program awards a varying number of $1,000 scholarships. In 2010 only three different awards were given out, so students can easily expect the MacDonald’s scholarship to be fairly competitive. All funds made available to a student can be used towards tuition, fees or other expenses related to attending college.

In the face of the general level of competitiveness the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Scholarships will generate, students should go into the application process with as much planning as they can. A carefully tailored personal statement discussing career goals, personal background, and various interests should be prepared far ahead of time. Applicants should pay special attention to their involvement with community organizations. Like many other charitable groups, the selection committee for the RMHC Scholarship Program will be very interested in students who have very active community service histories while maintaining a good grade point average and displaying strong leadership skills. Students who do not have a strong community service history should instead focus on their financial need and the general financial need of their family. While some may argue that this is tugging on heart strings, students should know that in the face of missing aspects in their personal statement they should try to rationalize and explain why instead of volunteering 40 hours a week they were working during those times. These explanations will go a long way towards showing the selection committee that an individual is still quite committed to their community, or even their family, but simply did not have the time or general ability to participate in service roles.

Students who are planning to apply for the HACER RMHC Scholarships should also seek out a letter of recommendation from a professional who knows them well whether they are a teacher, employer, fellow volunteer or program director of a community service group.

Scholarships for undocumented students are a necessity for immigrants who have not legally registered as citizens or residents in the country they reside in.

Many unique scholarships are available for legal residents only, making finding financial aid for undocumented immigrants at times incredibly difficult. Fortunately there are some unusual college scholarships for undocumented students available through various programs which help get around this problem for those interested in pursuing a degree from a college.

While not all of these undocumented student scholarships are specific, their lack of residential requirement makes them open to all students from a diverse background. Most of them are available specifically to migrant students or workers, so the application pool is not going to be so large as to be daunting. Though there are not nearly as many scholarships for undocumented students as there are for residents of a given country, this should not deter those interested in higher education from seeking financial aid.

Since students loans often require citizenship or valid tax identification numbers, undocumented students are going to have a harder time finding student loans which would otherwise help offset the need for undocumented scholarships. Because of this, undocumented students should seek out migrant oriented minority scholarships and apply to as many for which they are eligible, maximizing their chances for financial aid in the long run.

One of the best college scholarships for undocumented students out there has to be the Chicano Organizing and Research in Education (CORE) Que Llueva Café Scholarship. Their third annual minority scholarship specifically targets undocumented students who have not yet entered college but are interested in higher education. In their first year, CORE gave out up to $7,000 to needy students and then up to $9,000 in their second. CORE constantly tries to give out as much money as they can, though they are limited by the amount of donations to their migrant scholarship program which they receive. They strive to increase their amounts every year and though awards have not been announced for 2011, it is expected that they will either maintain previous amounts or go above them. Though targeted at undocumented students, the CORE scholarship requires that all applicants be of Chicano or Latino descent. Students must have been born outside of the US, but reside in the country without the legal consent of the government. All students must be enrolled in high school or have attained their GED and are enrolling in college for the first time at the moment of applying. On top of these factors, students must also demonstrate a financial need and show academic strength in their transcripts. When submitting their applications, students should submit a personal statement outlining their individual story and detailing their academic interests while also submitting at least one letter of recommendation. The deadline for the CORE scholarship is Febraury 25, 2011.

Another unusual scholarship for undocumented students would be the Migrant Farmworker Baccalaureate Scholarship. This program offers migrant workers who have already spent some time in college up to $2,000 in financial aid. Students must show a recent history of movement for migrant work, academic achievement, a sincere financial need and be able to provide an example of the successful completion of at least one year of higher educational studies. When applying for the program, applicants should find three letters of recommendation, write a personal essay indicating why they are seeking the migrant scholarship, and provide a Migrant Education Certificate of Eligibility. The deadline for this program is July 1 every year.

Students should always keep their eyes peeled for additional scholarship opportunities because there are many out there beyond those listed in this article. It is important to find and apply to as many undocumented student scholarships as possible, less you find yourself denied for a few you applied to and left without much some needed financial aid. Recently, Oprah Winfrey placed $36 million of her own money in the Foundation, which in turn distributed $8 million to numerous educational, arts and medical venues to be used for her Oprah Winfrey Scholarships. This organization normally will not accept donations from the public. Ms. Winfrey’s private foundation was originally established in 1987 to support the education and empowerment of women, children and families in the United States and around the world. Ms. Winfrey’s charities have awarded hundreds of grants to organizations that carry out her world vision.

The Oprah Winfrey Foundation awarded $2.5 million endowment to New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service for the creation of The Oprah Winfrey Scholars Program for African Women. The program will allow African women to pursue graduate studies in public policy and management at the Wagner School. It is the first known of its kind at an American University.

How to Apply for a Oprah Winfrey Scholarship
If you want to apply for an Oprah Winfrey Scholarship directly, you cannot do so. You must contact the various colleges and universities in which the Oprah Winfrey Foundation has donated scholarship contribution monies to, and apply to that particular school. You can then fill out an Oprah Winfrey Scholarship application there. The Oprah scholarship will be augmented along with another similar scholarship program at that school (college or university or trade school). The scholarship will have more giving power and be better able to accommodate more students in terms of scholarship numbers and the amount of the stipend awarded to each student. Ask the college/university financial aids office which you are contemplating going to, if they have been awarded any monies from the Oprah Winfrey Scholarship Foundation, or simply search online for any school which received monies from the Oprah Foundation. If they have, immediately apply. It will surely not be an unclaimed scholarship, simply because of its notoriety.

Minority Financial Aid is abundant and to let a minority scholarship go unclaimed is wrong. There are scholarships for minoity men and women offered by the NABJ.

Minority Financial Aid is abundant and to let a minority scholarship go unclaimed would be really too bad, and a shame.

If you are a minoity man or women looking for a college scholarship, you should eventually find one if you don’t stop looking. It may get tough at times because you think there is nothing available for you, but guess what? If you keep on searching you will land some type of a minority scholarship to help offset some of your college bills. If you don’t find anything; you just arn’t looking hard enough.

For instance there is the William Randolph Hearst endowed scholarship for minority students. This minority scholarship is for women as well as men. It’s offered by the Aspen Institute. Located in Washington, D.C. recipients of this scholarship spend the summer serving as student research interns for the Institute. You will be awarded monies of between $2,500 and $5,000. Undergraduate and graduate scholarships for minority students will both be given equal opportunities for this grant.

Are you a women who wants to go into the growing field of national defense? Little known Horizon Scholarships for Females is funded by the Women In Defense (WID) a national security organization. These female scholarships are from NDIA, National Defense Industrial Association.

The National Society of Black Engineers offers the minority engineering scholarships. Applicants can be awarded up to $5,000.

A Media minority scholarship offered by National Association of Black Journalists or NABJ for short, offers the NABJ/CNN scholarshipwhich is a $25,000 award to a graduating high school student who has been accepted into a baccalaureate program in broadcast journalism. And the NABJ also has Newhouse Foundation Scholarship which is for $5,000. Students majoring in print journalism who write for their college newspaper can apply.

Do you like the health fields? Thinking about nursing? There are nursing scholarships for minorities. The National Black Nurses Association supplies these. If you are a graduate, you have access to graduate scholarships for minority students interested in pursuing advanced degrees in nursing. This is offered through the American Nurses Association Minorities Fellowship Program.

The HRSA Scholarship for the Disadvantaged Students (SDS) program, launched under the Disadvantage Minority Health Improvement Act is solely to ensure that necessary financial assistance is provided disadvantaged professionals undergoing studies in health and nursing programs. The HRSA Scholarship Program is monitored by the US Department of Health and Human services and has the major objective to make the health and medical studies accessible to disadvantaged students especially the URM (unrepresented minorities). In the year 2008 the total amount distributed for the scholarships for the disadvantaged students (SDS) was nearly $46 million reaching more than 15,000 students. The annual budget focuses on funding health professionals in the region of the country with a shortage in workforce.

There are five main Sallie Mae scholarships for minority students offered by Sallie Mae annually that every minority should look at seriously because this company has many creative ways to pay for college and their products work well for many.

The Indian American Scholarship for College by IASF is a vehicle to help high school students for their college education. The IASF provides scholarships for Indian Americans based on their merit and financial need. IASF has been set-up by the Indian American Cultural Association (IACA) to promote education for the students of Indian community in Georgia.
