Scholarships for Stupid People

Nobody’s really stupid but many students feel they are so we are going to give those who searched for scholarships for stupid people some options.

Stupid People Scholarships

Nobody’s really stupid but many students feel they are so we are going to give those who searched for scholarships for stupid people some options. While perhaps a harsh way to phrase it, stupid people scholarships do exist in a number of different forms so to speak. In other words we will describe these as scholarships for people who think they are not smart; or for those students who have no real interest in academia. This type of award is going to often show up as merit based scholarships – not built around academic abilities but around specific skill sets or abilities outside of educational pursuits. It is important for below average learners to realize that, while they may not have all the academic skills they need to perform extremely well in school, skill based merit scholarships will help them afford a college education. Just because students did not perform well in their secondary school does not necessarily mean they will continue on to do poorly in college. Many students find it difficult to concentrate on the somewhat limited curriculum offered at high schools and, upon entering college then finding a major which suits their interests, begin performing much better as get into a university.

Unfortunately getting into college and getting access to scholarships can be difficult for a student who did not perform so well in high school. Scholarships for stupid people exist to bridge that gap, getting underachieving high school students the funding they need to try their hand at college and see where their future may take them.
There is the age old argument that scholarships for dumb students come in the form of athletic scholarships. Of course this is more myth than anything else as athletes are not simply unable to perform well in school but rather often times excel in their education. Many athletic scholarships set academic achievement requirements at a fairly high level, often requiring students to have well above a 2.5 grade point average to get an award. However not every athlete has studied hard and done well in school and there are some programs available for them.

The SAMMY Milk Mustache of the Year scholarship for stupid people exists to help students in just such a situation. Several yearly winners of the SAMMY award will receive a $7,500 scholarship to the school of their choice. All applicants must be nominated for the award, be a student in high school who participated in school sports and be graduating as seniors the year they apply. The deadline for this program is March 4.

The Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest is a scholarship for stupid students which anybody with a bit of experience making duck calls should consider entering. Every year four different winners of the competition will win different amounts of scholarship money. First placers are awarded $2,000, second placers get $1,000, those coming in third will receive $750 and applicants who come in fourth receive $500. In order to be eligible for the event students will need to be graduating high school seniors who are able to travel to Stuttgart, Arkansas’ chamber of commerce to compete. Competition begins every year in late November – students should watch the website for updated information.

AXA Achievement scholarship for stupid people which gives out 52 $10,000 awards every year. On top of the 52 awards given out, the pool of winners is entered into a second contest from which 10 different people will be selected to win an additional $15,000 in scholarship aid. This stupid people scholarship makes things easy in the eligibility department allowing anybody with ambition, self determination, self respect and an ability to succeed in college to apply for the award. The program does not look only at academic success in determining to whom awards shall go but rather determines the winners by their service to the community or projects they have undertaken to help others. This scholarship for stupid people is a great way to help find funding for college, especially if they applicant has a strong history of leading community oriented projects. While the 2011 deadline has come and gone, the 2012 competition will be announced in fall of 2011, so stay tuned.

They award three every year. You have to do one more thing to be awarded this odd scholarship – submit an essay on ‘Why you became involved in the shooting sports’. I wouldn’t write about that you always wanted to shoot someone because your chances would most likely not be very good.

The next category is perhaps the weirdest of the weird scholarships. If you have been a vegetarian all through your life and have made efforts to promote vegetarianism in your school (how many people do you know who have done that?) and community you could win the $10,000 Vegetarian Scholarship from the Vegetarian Resource Group (VRG). One great way to get back your meat eating friends is by getting a better education than them! The competition would also be less, since there aren’t that many vegetarians these days as there are people who eat meat.

Are Silly Scholarships really Smart Scholarships?

Searching the internet you will find some smart scholarships and some pretty silly scholarships, but wacky scholarships pay you the money like all the others!

Smart or Silly Scholarships

If you search the Internet long enough you are bound to find some really smart scholarships and some pretty silly scholarships too. Okay, maybe not exactly silly, just some wacky scholarships that don’t quite seem like they should be classified as a scholarship. However stupid or not these so called silly scholarships are for real and they actually deliver valuable smart scholarship money to those who meet their unusual criteria. So before you turn your nose up at these stupid scholarships give them the once over and make completely sure that they cannot lend you a helping hand in your pursuit of post high school education. Let’s examine a few of these smart, goofy scholarships.

Let’s start with The Duck Brand Duct Tape “Stuck At Prom” Contest. Believe it or not, you read it right. As goofy as it sounds you can win $3000 towards your college education along with a bit of pocket money for school as well. All you and your date have to do is attend your high school prom in a duct tape costume you designed. Then you take pictures and send them to the duct tape website. They will choose 10 finalists. Those who visit the site and give them the most votes will determine the winning couple. You must submit your photos to silly scholarships no later than June 8th of the contest year. Voters will judge the couples on originality, workmanship, accessories, colors and the amount of duct tape utilized. This may be one wacky scholarship contest but if you win you may think otherwise when you accept the money!

Just when you thought you had heard everything along comes the Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship for Left-Handed Students. No, this is not going to be a ‘left-handed monkey wrench’ story. If you are a senior, junior or sophomore enrolled in Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, have sound academic scores, display financial need and oh yes, be left-handed your a candidate for this strange scholarship. Silly, maybe but you can win a smart scholarship of up to $5,000 just for being left handed. Winning the $5,000 scholarship may not seem so dumb once you deposited it in your bank account though. The next application deadline will be April 1, 2010.

Being tall is good for something else other than playing basketball and picking apples off trees. The Tall Clubs International Scholarship offers a $1,000 scholarship. The somewhat stupid part is that a female has to stand 5 feet 10 inches tall. A male has to stand 6 feet 2 inches tall. If you are shorter than that then you are tough out of luck. These applicants need to be below 21 years of age and preparing for their first year in college. His or her local TCI Club must also sponsor each applicant. Believe it or not this is no tall tale and many may consider these to be stupid, or smart scholarships depending on who you ask.

Some people may think it silly that this next scholarship could even exist. The Gertrude J. Deppen Scholarship at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania is asking for a miracle in this day and age. Those interested must have resided in Mount Carmel for at least a decade. They must also hold a diploma from Mount Carmel High School. It gets better. Prospective applicants cannot drink, smoke, use drugs or even play in sports. It must be hard to verify this award and then stick to it. This scholarship may be stupid, silly, goofy & wacky all rolled in one and other ways as well.

Yes, some of these seem like pretty silly scholarships but sometimes when you need money for college you have to be willing to find assistance where you can. At the very least these wacky scholarships can finally make you smile because in the end they all are really smart scholarships if you discover them, apply, and ultimately win money from them!

College Spring Break like a Wacky Scholarship

A college spring break is like wacky scholarships. When you participate on a college spring trip and the wacky college scholarship they are both a little wacky.

college spring break vacations         spring break trip for college student         spring break photo college girl

A college spring break is like wacky scholarships. You never know how bizzare they will be until you accept them and go. Then, when you participate on a college spring trip and the wacky college scholarship; they tend to broaden your educational horizons and make you a more interesting college student. The college spring break vacation tends to give you only good memories; while the wacky scholarship actually will pay some of your college cost and give you a higher education. Both are wacky; but only one will pay you to participate in a wacky college experience.

Any ideas on what you may be doing on spring break?

college student spring break

How each student decides what their college spring break vacation will be is more a personal matter. While you may see a lot of shows showing college students jetting off for fun and parties on the beach, most actually prefer to do something else. Some can’t afford the cost of taking a trip let alone pay their tutition. I always went home to see my family. I could barely pay my way through college.

college spring break party picture

College spring break come near Eastertime. College is hard, especially the first year and living on your own the first few years is hard as well. By the time college spring break comes, most students welcome the idea of a spring break trip. After just completing testing for all their classes, some students tend to go nuts and enjoy the party life to blow off steam. While others have different ideas of what it means to relax. Those going off to the beach are a travel agents dream, but as a parent, you may not be able to pay for college spring break vacations.

college student spring break fun

Though I always went home to hang out with my family and friends during college spring break, I realize that some simply don’t want to do that. You don’t have to go to the beach to have a good time, especially if that is not something you would normally do anyway. You could go almost anywhere. Some of my friends would organize road trips and just travel in a general direction for college spring break. They would stop where they thought something looked interesting, and stayed wherever they ended up at the end of the day. For me, I would rather do that then go to the beach any day.

college spring break parties

When I started to get serious about my studies I would skip college spring break fun all together and do more studying. You can do this, but it may not be such a good idea. Your brains need a chance to recharge. You may actually get more out of your studies if you take some time away from them, even if it’s only a few days of your college spring break.  You can burn out slowly without realizing it in college with all the testing.

My Sring Break Vacation Suggestion
Recharge your batteries from your unusual wacky scholarship and take a not so wacky college spring break and do nothing. Take it slow and easy. You’ll thank yourself.
