College is expensive for a family with twins so it’s important for those parents to learn about some unusual scholarships for twins, siblings & multiples.
Scholarships for Twins
College costs a great deal of money and for parents of twins, the cost may be completely out of reach. This is why it is important for those parents to learn about some unusual scholarships for twins, siblings & multiples. Twins have numerous scholarship opportunities that other people simply are not eligible for. This means that the only other competition for these college twin scholarships is other sets of twins. This substancially narrows the competition down.
Start by considering colleges that offer special rates for twins – more commonly referred to as scholarships for multiple students or scholarships for siblings within the same family. While these are not really college scholarships for twins, these programs can lower the cost of the total tuition for twins by anywhere from $500 to $2000 – which is about the same as winning a twin scholarship. Schools that offer these special tuition programs include Wilson College, Sterling College, Morris Brown College, West Chester University of Pennsylvania, Randolph-Macon Women’s College, Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College, George Washington University, Carl Albert College, and Lake Erie College.
Some colleges will even offer a discount of 50% for one of the twins, if both are attending the same college (just as good as scholarships for twins or multiple students or scholarships for siblings). This is a huge savings, and one that should definitely be considered when selecting the college that you will attend. Usually, the colleges that make this type of offer will be smaller schools, as opposed to larger state universities. Some colleges will offer free or discounted housing to one or both twins instead of offering a reduction in tuition. Make sure that you call the colleges that you are considering to find out what is offered to twins in the way of college tuition and housing.
Some colleges also offer unusual scholarships for twins, based on academic merit. In this instance, you must attend a specific college, be a twin, and have excellent grades or other merits. In some cases, only one twin has to be attending the school in order to be eligible, and in other cases both twins must attend, and both twins must be eligible in order to apply.
A few colleges offer unfamiliar college scholarships for twins and/or multiples. Parents of twins must be happy with this sibling scholarship because they can get a (2) for (2) on this multiples scholarship program. Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti Michigan is one such college which does offer scholarships for twins. Known as a college which produces great teachers, their twin scholarship is called The Furlotte Twins Endowed Scholarship.
If you are a parent of twins, make sure that you join as many organizations designed for parents of multiples as possible. Many of these organizations have twin college scholarship opportunities, and these awards are typically made to members – or the twins of members. The Illinois Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc. is one example of a club that offers these unique scholarships for twins. Most states have a Mothers of Twins or Mothers of Multiples Club.
Naturally, you must realize that the number of twin scholarships that are available specifically for twins are very few – and this makes them very competitive, since there are many sets of twins in the world. What this means is that first, you need to be a top runner for these awards by showing that you have what it takes academically and that you have contributed to your community in a positive way, through civic activities. Additionally, it is wise to apply for all of the financial assistance that you can get, and for each twin to apply for as many scholarships and grants that they may be eligible for such as Federal Pell Grants, Federal Work Study (FWS) Programs or FSEOG Grants, instead of just depending on these unusual scholarships for twins, siblings and multiple student discounts.
Unknown special needs scholarships are designed for people who have disabilities, their parents, children, or their siblings. Many are unknown scholarships.

The deadline for applying occurs in February of each year.

Regardless of what your disability is, you can find special needs scholarships that fit your situation through a variety of organizations. There are even unknown scholarships available to those who have a certain disease, such as the diabetes scholarship offered through the Diabetes Scholars Foundation, for students who have diabetes. This program awards about seventeen diabetic scholarships each year, in the amount of $5000 each. The deadline for applying occurs in May of each year.
While you will be eligible for multiple special needs scholarships that are geared directly towards your disability, you also need to apply for other types of scholarships, such as those that are awarded based on academic merit, talent, skill, minority status, or heritage. Do not assume, however, that because you are disabled you have a better chance of winning these disability scholarships. Your talents as they relate to the selection criteria will be the only thing that is considered, which is why you need to apply for the little known special needs scholarships as well. If you have more than one disability, make sure that you seek out unknown scholarship opportunities for each disability that you have. For example, if you are hearing impaired and wheelchair bound, you qualify for scholarships designed for both groups.

Above are just a few examples but there are hundreds more. By contacting the organization of your disability you can best find where the special needs scholarships normally are.
Apple Scholarships are elusive for students in need but many of their scholarship programs are unknown and hard to find and may become unclaimed scholarships.
Apple Scholarships
Apple Computers has been around for a long time. Competitors of Microsoft in the PC world they have made their own name in the computer industry because of their own unique way of doing things. They are fast becoming famous for their contributions to the education community as well and their distinct way of allocating some of their Apple scholarships also has their own unusual touch to it. They are very proud to offer Apple Scholarships for students in need but many of their scholarship programs are unknown and may become unclaimed scholarships because not enough students may apply to them because of their elusiveness.
One of these contributions is called the Apple Scholars Program. They choose outstanding students and award them with a $2000 cash award, an Apple Nano iPod, and a nice computer to take to college with them. They pick the winners by their senior project. Apple has so many different corporate scholarships that it offers making it difficult to find and apply to. They may become unclaimed scholarships because students simply don’t know about them or where to apply for them. Going to their website does no good in locating an Apple college scholarship other then the Apple Scholars Program. They are almost elusive because they seem to be intertwined with other scholarship programs and sometimes they will discontinue a particular Apple scholarship program and it is no longer available. They must have at least 70 different ones that you can apply for. There are some that are available to anyone in the United States but then there are some that are only available in the states where Apple corporations are. In order to find the ones that are best for you and find the deadlines and requirements you must search for Apple scholarships to see what new Apple scholarship program is available at that time and it will be posted on the internet.
The above were all existing Apple scholarship programs as of the date of the writing of this article, but some may no longer be available. It is a bit unusual that such a large corporation handles their educational support for college students this way but then again Apple has always been one to distance themselves from the crowd and take their own unique road in doing things.
The Elks Scholarship awards have three different types of Elks National Scholarship Plans which are offered through the Elks National Foundation.
Elks National Scholarship
The Elks Scholarship awards have three different types of Elks National Scholarship Plans which are offered through the Elks National Foundation. They tend to be unknown scholarships because most people don’t associate the Elks Lodge with scholarships. Besides being one of the largest financial supporters of a college education you may be asking yourself “but who are the Elks and what are they all about”?
The Elks is a multi faceted organization dedicated to one goal, that of the betterment of our communities. There are few more worthy ways to better our future than to invest in the education of our future leaders and to that end the Elks National Foundation grants over 3.60 million dollars in Elks Scholarships across the nation per year. Even though the Elks National scholarships are distributed nationally all applications and funds go through the local Elks lodge making the process more personal and geared to the needs of the youth of the community.
The Elks were founded on the ideal of service to mankind. In a 1928 speech Elks President John F. Malley envisioned a mighty army for good united to serve mankind. Elks achieve this by investing in their communities. They invest time, money, effort and their focus is diverse. Youth of course are the promise of tomorrow and volunteers from the local, state and national level invest their time to further that dream. Community service, volunteering and furthering the goals of the group are a strong focus of all Elks members.
The Legacy Scholarships by the Elks benefit students of current Elk members in good standing and these scholarships vary in size. Normally up to 250 $4,000 ($1,000 per year for 4 years) scholarships are awarded annually for Legacy Elks scholarships. You can apply from September 1st of every year.
The Most Valuable Student Scholarships sponsored by the Elks award 500 scholarships across the nation ranging in amounts of $1,000 per year to $15,000 per year over a four-year period and are for students who excel both in character, charity and scholastic ability. You can apply September 1st online every year. You do not have to be related to a member of the Elks to apply for this Elk scholarship.
Emergency Educational Grants from the Elks are available to children of deceased or fully disabled Elks Members. These awards are from $1,000 to $3,000 yearly and they are renewable. You can apply anytime from July 1st to December 31st.
The two below Elk sponsored unknown scholarships are also offered to Scouts and can be applied to at your local Elk club lodge. They are restrictive in nature in that only scouts who have reached the highest level of scouting possible can only apply.
The Elks National Foundation Scholarship awards The Elks Eagle Scout Scholarships which are (4) $8,000 & (4) $4,000 scholarships. You must apply before February 28th. This Elks lodge scholarship is for those scouts who have reached a ‘eagle scout’ status to apply only. Must be a high school senior to apply.
The Elks Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarships are for those girl scouts who have reached the highest ranking possible in Girl Scouting – The Gold Award. There will be (8) $6,000 Elk club scholarship awards. Must be a high school senior to apply.
The Elks Scholarship Programs are for undergraduate study only. All scholarship funds are paid directly to the school except in certain conditions. If the scholarship funds are to be used against attendance expenses such as dorm rooms the student must have the University or college issue a certificate of attendance and that must be forwarded to the Chicago Elks, a check will then be issued to the school for credit for the student. All scholarship awards from Elks National Scholarship will also come with a certificate of award, except for the Emergency Educational Grants. You must be a high school senior to apply for the Most Valuable Student Scholarships and the Legacy Elks Scholarships. To apply to the Emergency Educational Grants Elk Scholarship you must be under the age of 23. It’s definitely worth becoming a member of the Elks even if you are not awarded an Elks Club Scholarship because of the many useful benefits which this club offers for families. To read more about joining go to the Elks Club.
Elks Scholarship checks are generally issued through the months of June July and August. Applications for an Elks scholarship must be made directly through the local Elks lodge and it will be forwarded to the national office to be evaluated.
Information concerning applications for the unknown Elks Scholarships can be obtained through the local Elks chapter or for more information about the Elks Scholarship programs an email can be sent to scholarship@elks.org. High school counselors or financial aid counselors at college will also have information concerning Elks Scholarship applications and requirements.

The Europe scholarship is awarded in the amount of 7000 pounds and the Google Lime Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $10,000. There is no indication as to how many of these scholarships are awarded each year, but multiple awards are made. For either of these scholarships, the student must be studying computer science, and must be disabled to apply.
The Google Hispanic College Fund Scholarship is intended for computer science students, who are Hispanic. It is awarded in the amount of $10,000. Other Google minority scholarships are the Google United Negro College Fund. It is available for African-Americans who are studying computer science, also awarded in the amount of $10,000. When selecting the winners of this Google scholarship financial need is required and applicants must have a strong academic background, display leadership skills and must have been involved with notable outside activities that can be documented.
The 2011 Doodle 4 GoogleScholarship Contest is a great method to try to find funding for your child’s education by offering a unique scholarship way to start thinking about what they want to do with their life. Students k-12 can submit their written application on ‘what they would like to be doing someday’ for this contest.
Aside from all of these above Academic Scholarships, Google also offers what they call Conference Travel Scholarships where Google will award winners with covering the cost of travel to attend one of the many Google conferences or GooglePlex retreats. They include the Google Women of Color Scholarship for the Grace Hopper Conference; awarded to women of color students in the US and internationally, the Google Global Community Scholarship for the Grace Hopper Conference which is awarded to students outside the US, and the Google Travel Scholarship for the AISES National Conference awarded to American Indian Science and Engineering Society for AISES students only. It’s helpful to find a piece of advice to help pay for college, or some scholarship secrets to help you find some of those unknown or hidden scholarships.
Scholarship Secrets
It’s always helpful to find a little piece of advice to help pay for college, or some scholarship secrets to help you find some of those unknown or hidden scholarships you sometimes hear about. Are their really any scholarship secrets or a hidden scholarship in which you discover and that will pay you some money towards college tuition? There is a good case in looking as hard as you can for some type of scholarship, grant, or financial aid. There is one quick way to check, but this is not all of it.
It does not require an economist to tell us how rough the economy has been for quite sometime. The cost of going to college has gone through the roof, and throw in the recession with the expanding jobless rate and post high school tuition options seem bleak. This financial breakdown has sent students scurrying in attempts of finding some type of assistance. For many students a secret or hidden scholarship is their only avenue to a college education besides school loans which upon graduation the loans await you to pay off… YUG!
There are scholarships out there and that is no secret but you have to know what you need to do to qualify and how to be chosen for one. Winning a scholarship does not take some secret method passed down through the generations. It takes organization and the ability to do the right thing at the right time.
If you really want to prepare yourself to earn a standard scholarship it has to start when you are young even as far back as elementary school. Parents have to start molding their children into college students of tomorrow. Students need to push to show academic excellence right from the beginning and never let it slip. If students can show that they have been academically inclined since grade school those issuing scholarships will see that they were educationally ambitious throughout their lives.
As much as the scholarship committees focus on academics they often concentrate just as hard on applicants’ community involvement. It is vital that all students who aspire to attend college get involved in outstanding school programs and activities that form a resume of active involvement. It is just as important to volunteer in their community and help to make it a better place. All of this displays leadership and a genuine concern for those who share the world around you.
Technology has made finding hidden or secret scholarships a much more pleasant task. The age of the computer and the worldwide Internet has opened the doors that took an unpleasant amount of time in the past. Students seeking a hidden scholarship can go online and find hundreds of available scholarships. Finding scholarships is only half of the battle. The true test derives from applying for them. Applicants should always have a well prepared resume demonstrating all of their personal success in academics, awards received and school and community involvement. In addition, they should always have a strong essay available listing their career objectives. Students should also have strong reference letters to support their recommendation for the scholarship. These letters and essays go a long way in selling who you are and what you’re about to the scholarship committees.
It does not take some secret scholarship to get a college education. It takes hard work and dedication towards the process of obtaining a scholarship. The process normally begins early in grade school and proceeds right through the senior year in high school. It takes active involvement in school and community programs. It requires a strong resume with excellent letters of reference. There are no hidden scholarships, just secrets towards getting a regular one.
What if you didn’t get the best of grades to allow you to apply for many of the standard scholarships? Well, you still may have a chance. You may have to start calling the colleges you most likely want to attend from the most preferred to the least, because the most preferred may not offer any aid for you and then you move down your list and call to see what the next school may provide for you. What I prefer is to set an appointment in person to meet with the financial aid guidance counselor. This is the best because you can pick up valuable advice which will steer you closer to your scholarship/aid goal.
If you are crunched for time then you may want to do a quick & easy scholarship search. You should not pay for this but many places try to get you to pay. You can go do a scholarship search on this scholarship search engine which is free and seems to be the one most recommended today. You can read more about it at finding student loan scholarships.

There are some crazy scholarships today that will make you laugh or shake your head in disbelief but it just could be that you might qualify for one of them and make you a few extra dollars towards your college education.
Let’s take the Alice McArver Ratchford Scholarship for instance. To qualify for these weird scholarships you must be a female and be enrolled at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. Students have to submit their FAFSA and must make their home on campus. The applicant cannot have a car or be married and cannot have won another scholarship. The student also needs to display a financial need. If you can meet the criteria you must submit your application by March 1st of the scholarship year.
Okay, prepare yourself for this one because this is one strange scholarship. The Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest has a crazy scholarship for you. No, I am not quacking around. Stuttgart, Arkansas in the United States is home to this duck calling oddball scholarship contest. You can be a high school senior anywhere in the USA and qualify. The only other criteria you have to meet are, well, you have to be able to call a duck. The first prize is actually something to quack about. The winner will receive a $1,500 weird college scholarship. The second place winner gets to take home a $500 scholarship, while third and forth place finishers take home $300 and $200 respectably. Stop quacking up and give it a try.
Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana offers the David Letterman Scholarship for Telecommunications. The oddball aspect about this strange scholarship is that it is not based on academic performance. Your grades do not matter. What you do have to be is creative. First of all you have to be studying telecommunications as either a major or a minor. All you have to do is submit a creative project that displays your creativity. You do have to be in the first quarter of either your junior or senior year in college. Your submitted project can be written, in audio form, a short film or on videotape. If it is creative and you win you will receive $10,000 in weird college scholarships. Second place finishers receive a $5,000 award while the third place student gets $3,333. All submissions must be turned in by March 26th of the scholarship year.
There are many more strange & crazy scholarships available. We have covered but a few here. They might sound a little weird but they are just real scholarships for college students with odd talents. The way the economy has been, money for college is hard to come by. Every little bit helps. If you can find one of these weird scholarships where your talent matches up, then it may just offer a helping hand.
Searching the internet you will find some smart scholarships and some pretty silly scholarships, but wacky scholarships pay you the money like all the others!
Smart or Silly Scholarships
If you search the Internet long enough you are bound to find some really smart scholarships and some pretty silly scholarships too. Okay, maybe not exactly silly, just some wacky scholarships that don’t quite seem like they should be classified as a scholarship. However stupid or not these so called silly scholarships are for real and they actually deliver valuable smart scholarship money to those who meet their unusual criteria. So before you turn your nose up at these stupid scholarships give them the once over and make completely sure that they cannot lend you a helping hand in your pursuit of post high school education. Let’s examine a few of these smart, goofy scholarships.
Let’s start with The Duck Brand Duct Tape “Stuck At Prom” Contest. Believe it or not, you read it right. As goofy as it sounds you can win $3000 towards your college education along with a bit of pocket money for school as well. All you and your date have to do is attend your high school prom in a duct tape costume you designed. Then you take pictures and send them to the duct tape website. They will choose 10 finalists. Those who visit the site and give them the most votes will determine the winning couple. You must submit your photos to silly scholarships no later than June 8th of the contest year. Voters will judge the couples on originality, workmanship, accessories, colors and the amount of duct tape utilized. This may be one wacky scholarship contest but if you win you may think otherwise when you accept the money!
Just when you thought you had heard everything along comes the Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship for Left-Handed Students. No, this is not going to be a ‘left-handed monkey wrench’ story. If you are a senior, junior or sophomore enrolled in Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, have sound academic scores, display financial need and oh yes, be left-handed your a candidate for this strange scholarship. Silly, maybe but you can win a smart scholarship of up to $5,000 just for being left handed. Winning the $5,000 scholarship may not seem so dumb once you deposited it in your bank account though. The next application deadline will be April 1, 2010.
Being tall is good for something else other than playing basketball and picking apples off trees. The Tall Clubs International Scholarship offers a $1,000 scholarship. The somewhat stupid part is that a female has to stand 5 feet 10 inches tall. A male has to stand 6 feet 2 inches tall. If you are shorter than that then you are tough out of luck. These applicants need to be below 21 years of age and preparing for their first year in college. His or her local TCI Club must also sponsor each applicant. Believe it or not this is no tall tale and many may consider these to be stupid, or smart scholarships depending on who you ask.
Some people may think it silly that this next scholarship could even exist. The Gertrude J. Deppen Scholarship at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania is asking for a miracle in this day and age. Those interested must have resided in Mount Carmel for at least a decade. They must also hold a diploma from Mount Carmel High School. It gets better. Prospective applicants cannot drink, smoke, use drugs or even play in sports. It must be hard to verify this award and then stick to it. This scholarship may be stupid, silly, goofy & wacky all rolled in one and other ways as well.
Yes, some of these seem like pretty silly scholarships but sometimes when you need money for college you have to be willing to find assistance where you can. At the very least these wacky scholarships can finally make you smile because in the end they all are really smart scholarships if you discover them, apply, and ultimately win money from them!

Eagle Scout scholarships are mostly unknown and come from many organizations. The Principal Eagle Scout scholarship.Unknown scholarships for Eagle Scouts.
Eagle Scout scholarships are mostly unknown scholarships and come from many organizations. We will cover those which are known, and offer the principal Eagle Scout scholarship. The many other unknown scholarships for Eagle Scouts, which are too abundant to mention, may offer from $100.00 to $300.00 and come from various organizations both small and large. Those, you have to research to find out if those places still are offering the Eagle Scouts scholarships. This seems to change from year to year, depending if there was any Eagle Scout college scholarships money allocated for that year from that specific organization.
The two preeminent types of nationally awarded scholarships for Eagle Scouts presented annually by the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA), are academic scholarships and merit based scholarships. The National Eagle Scout Association and Mabel and Lawrence S. Cooke Scholarships provide the academic scholarships. The Merit based Eagle Scout scholarships are sponsored by the Hall/McElwain Merit Scholarships. The academic Eagle scholarship will have emphasis on academic achievements as well as your actualization of becoming an Eagle Scout. The Merit Eagle Scout scholarship primary focus is on the high level of realization from becoming an Eagle Scout, an extreme level of accomplishment indeed. There are also other Eagle Scout scholarships offered by the NESA which are categorized as Religious, Civic/Military and Institution-Specific.
Academic Scout Scholarship Details
There are four $20,000 scholarships to be used over (4) years college, and a $48,000 scholarship, also to be used over four years, along with a number of other. A miscellaneous number of 3,000 scholarships are also awarded in the academic based category too.
Merit based Eagle Scout Scholarships
A number of $1,000 scholarships are presented every year and are selected from the various Boy Scout regions based on recommendations from the same. Eagle Scouts must be graduating high school and entering college in the year they apply for the National Eagle Scout Association scholarships. The NESA reports that they receive approximately 5000 applications yearly and less than 100 are awarded. Don’t let this discourage you from applying though. Many times we’ve heard that people who applied thought they never thought they had a chance to win. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Apply the original Boy Scout motto “Do your best” and get your application in. The submission deadline for the NESA scout scholarship application is January 31, 2009.
Religious Eagle Scout Scholarships
Emmett J. Doerr Memorial Distinguished Scout scholarships presented by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting. Awards of $1,000 to $2,500 to (3) deserving Catholic high-school seniors who are currently registered and active in Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, or Venturing. March 1st deadline.

Institution-Specific Eagle Scout scholarships can be viewed by going to: http://www.nesa.org/institutions.html. This is continually updated and many institutions participate, with some (17) at last count. These institutions are all Colleges who place a high value on scouting in one’s life and award that. Both Boy Scout and Girl Scout scholarships are available at most of these institutions.
Although, there are many other entities that provide hundreds of unknown scholarships for Eagle Scouts, as well as Girl Scout scholarships, the NESA scholarships listed above are sanctioned by the National Eagle Scout Association. These other unknown Scout scholarships may not be given out consistently every year by these entities, and they may not be worth the trouble looking into since their award amounts may be very low.
Eagle Scouts have always followed the Boy Scout motto of “Do your best”. Never has their been a better reward for following this golden Scout rule then an Eagle Scout scholarship to college!
Oprah Winfrey Scholarship will never be an unclaimed scholarship because of her celebrity status knowned for her humanitarianism.
The Oprah Winfrey Scholarship Program works differently then other scholarship programs, and the Oprah scholarships will not be unclaimed scholarships by any stretch of the imagination because of her celebrity status which is known for her philanthropy and humanitarianism. Oprah Winfrey has set up (3) different charities which she designates scholarship monies for other scholarship programs of her choice at various colleges and schools.
The (3) Oprah Winfrey Charities which Oprah Winfrey runs and operates through, to provide her scholarships are:
OPRAH WINFREY FOUNDATION
This Foundation is the private foundation which is under the direction of Oprah Winfrey. This foundation is Oprah’s pride and joy. According to the most recent filing, the Oprah Winfrey Foundation has total assets of $172 million. Recently, Oprah Winfrey placed $36 million of her own money in the Foundation, which in turn distributed $8 million to numerous educational, arts and medical venues to be used for her Oprah Winfrey Scholarships. This organization normally will not accept donations from the public. If the public wants to support Oprah Winfrey-related philanthropic work through donations, you would be directed to do so through the Oprah’s Angel Network (OAN) below.
OPRAH WINFREY OPERATING FOUNDATION This Foundation is a private operating foundation whose current focus is operating the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls – South Africa Program. The main focus is providing monies through endowments to South African schools only. Oprah describes the reason behind establishing this Foundation this way “I believe that one of a nation’s most important resources is its young people, and the key that allows young people to create a better world and a brighter future is education. Now, more than ever, it is vitally important for Africa,” said Winfrey. “Investing in the higher education of individual African women is an investment in positive change.”
OPRAH’S ANGEL NETWORK (OAN)
Oprah’s Angel Network grants awards to organizations and operates projects in under-served communities that provide educational initiatives as well as assist people in fulfilling basic human needs and regaining dignity. Because Oprah Winfrey makes a donation to Oprah’s Angel Network equal to its management and general as well as fundraising expenses, 100% of your donation goes toward program costs. This is the program the public is encouraged to provide donations for. The Angel Network is heavily promoted on Winfrey’s show for fans to help raise money for worthy causes.
Oprah Winfrey Scholarships Operate this Way If a college already has a scholarship program for people who exhibit a strong financial need, Oprah may donate monies to that particular scholarship program. It must be specifically used for that scholarship program Oprah Winfrey donated the monies for, and it can’t be used for another scholarship program at that school unless it’s authorized by Oprah herself. The Oprah Winfrey Foundations put strong emphasis for empowering ethnic minorities who lack the funds to go through college, and especially women in particular. Oprah’s Endowments seem to sponsor scholarships that directly make an effort to tackle these two groups. Ms. Winfrey’s private foundation was originally established in 1987 to support the education and empowerment of women, children and families in the United States and around the world. Ms. Winfrey’s charities have awarded hundreds of grants to organizations that carry out her world vision.
Example of an Oprah Winfrey Scholarship Program The Oprah Winfrey Foundation awarded $2.5 million endowment to New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service for the creation of The Oprah Winfrey Scholars Program for African Women. The program will allow African women to pursue graduate studies in public policy and management at the Wagner School. It is the first known of its kind at an American University.
How to Apply for a Oprah Winfrey Scholarship
If you want to apply for an Oprah Winfrey Scholarship directly, you cannot do so. You must contact the various colleges and universities in which the Oprah Winfrey Foundation has donated scholarship contribution monies to, and apply to that particular school. You can then fill out an Oprah Winfrey Scholarship application there. The Oprah scholarship will be augmented along with another similar scholarship program at that school (college or university or trade school). The scholarship will have more giving power and be better able to accommodate more students in terms of scholarship numbers and the amount of the stipend awarded to each student. Ask the college/university financial aids office which you are contemplating going to, if they have been awarded any monies from the Oprah Winfrey Scholarship Foundation, or simply search online for any school which received monies from the Oprah Foundation. If they have, immediately apply. It will surely not be an unclaimed scholarship, simply because of its notoriety.
Don’t let this discourage you from applying for it though!
