From the 1960’s going forward to today, woman’s presence in the technology workforce has plummeted from an estimated 37% in 1985; to approximately 18% in the year 009. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Scholarships

The all female scholarships offered by this national educational foundation are open to graduate women who are working on a professional degree as well as undergraduate students. Graduate scholarships are offered for one academic year and will not exceed $2,500. The women scholarships are paid directly to the recipients. Undergraduate scholarships are open to freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior students as well as graduating high school senior students. The awards are for one academic year. Amounts for undergraduate scholarships will vary from $500 to $1,000 and will be paid directly to the school.

Zeta Phi Beta also sponsors the Deborah Partridge Wolfe International Fellowship. This award is available to graduate and undergraduate students who are studying abroad as well as foreign students who are studying in the United States. Applications must be submitted by February 6th. Applicants must be in pursuit of a computer science, engineering or related degree.

The Kirsten R. Lorentzen Women’s Scholarships Studying Physics

The Kirsten R. Lorentzen Award is given to a college sophomore or junior who is studying physics or a related field. This is a $1000 award that is given annual. Applicants should be well-rounded with a strong academic background and must also demonstrate that they have exceptional potential within extracurricular activities or have overcome some hardship.

The Horizons Scholarship for Women in Defense

The Horizons Scholarship is awarded by ‘Women in Defense’ to women who are pursuing careers associated with national security and/or the defense interests of the U.S. Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and must also have a minimum GPA of 3.25. Applicants must also be U.S. citizens. This award varies between $500 and $12,000. The application deadline is July 1st. Applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited university as an undergraduate or graduate student.

Amelia Earhart Fellowship Scholarships for Woman

Other hidden scholarships for women include the Amelia Earhart Fellowship. This little recognized scholarship award is specifically for women who are pursuing an education in fields that are typically male-dominated, such as aerospace related engineering. More than $7 million has been awarded to some 1,200 women from around the world. The award is worth $10,000. Applications must be submitted no later than November 15th. Applicants must be pursuing a doctoral degree and must also demonstrate academic excellence in the field of aerospace.
