Subway Scholarships

Many businesses offer little known corporate scholarships to current or former employees and often extend eligibility to employees’ family members. The fast food Subway scholarships are one example of businesses that seek to encourage its workers to further their education and pursue their dreams at Subway and beyond. Corporate scholarships are becoming more and more common and while once underutilized by students searching for scholarship money, awareness of these is growing. Even smaller companies are starting to offer scholarships. Not all companies require employment with the business for eligibility, so you should still investigate this type of scholarship. Many corporations, like Subway, offer college scholarships for a variety of reasons: to promote education and their business, to enrich the lives of community members, even as advertisement or a public relations move. If you have worked at a large company or franchised corporation, you should definitely inquire about corporate scholarship opportunities as they may not be highly publicized.

Fred DeLuca, Subway’s founder values education. In fact, the idea for the Subway Corporation was born directly from DeLuca’s own desire to further his education past a high school diploma. As a 17-year old high school graduate in 1965, he did not have the money to continue on to college. Instead, he and family friend Peter Buck opened a submarine sandwich shop as a means to earn the money needed. Within 10 years they had more than financed their futures, having opened 16 stores in Connecticut with many more to follow. Subway had been born from dedication, hard work and dreams – all of which the owners hope for and expect from their employees. The Subway scholarship was a natural way to invest in all of those things and for DeLuca and Buck to give back to Subway employees.

Subway employees and their children are eligible for a subway college scholarship if a few requirements are met. Employees must have worked for Subway for at least 15 hours a week for six months and parent employees with children seeking a scholarship must work for a minimum of 30 hours a week. Students must be attend an accredited two- or four- year college anywhere in the world and maintain a 2.75 or higher GPA. Offering these unknown scholarships coincides with Subway’s emphasis on family. They seek to build strong relationships between all employees, the community, and the business, as individuals within a family must. The Subway Corporation wants to help take care of the people who have helped to make Subway a success.

Most Subway scholarships are $1000 and are distributed to the college of choice in two semester increments, during the student’s freshmen year. It is important to check the fast food scholarships by Subway specifically available in your state of residence, as some states may have Sub scholarships that range up to $3000. For instance, Subway of South Carolina offers a $3000 obscure scholarship. All the fast food scholarship applications are accepted between the months of September and November with a winner being announced in late November or early December. Recipients are chosen based on the perceived ability of the applicant to succeed in their chosen area of study and on his/her academic merit. It does not matter what that subject matter is as long as the student seems dedicated to it and able to succeed in it.

Since Subways are now franchised, the remote scholarship in a given city or area may have more specific criteria, based on the employers interests or decisions. Many Subway scholarships are even named after an influential former/current employee to serve as an honor to that individual and a statement about the type of individual being sought for recognition. When searching for the correct little known scholarship from Subway for you, make sure you find the award affiliated with the Subway in which you were employed or at a minimum, the state Subway Scholarship Committee in which you reside. You can email Subway at thornberg_@subway.com to find out which affiliates you can contact for your area, or use the contact information below to call them direct. Some affiliates will even provide scholarships for students who have no affiliation with the company whatsoever and who are looking for student aid.

The emphasis on reducing one’s environmental footprint has created green scholarships for environmental studies so as to insure preservation our natural world.

Green Scholarships

The emphasis on reducing one’s environmental footprint has created a wealth of professions from organic nutritionists to wetland ecologists. Consequently, green scholarships for environmental studies are growing in number as more students are pursuing diverse fields of study which fall into the “green” category. One of the difficult things about searching for this type of environmental scholarship is that not all which are technically green are searchable with that terminology, so you should search with this broad terminology but also with many variations and with specific keywords, as well. There are many of these types of unknown green scholarships for the environment with a few of the top examples listed below.

The Gloria Barron Wilderness Society Scholarship for the environment is awarded to graduate students in honor of Gloria Barron who sought to protect all aspects of the wilderness. While the actual green scholarship amount varies in any given year, usually about $10,000 plus travel expenditures is awarded to a student preparing to research and author a wilderness paper. Publication of the subsequent findings is not mandatory but encouraged. The deadline for the 2011-2012 school year is March 31, 2011. All budding conservationists seeking to study and learn about the planet and its inhabitants in a fresh, new way are encouraged to apply.

The Nicodemus Wilderness Project encourages volunteerism through its Apprentice Ecological Initiative. Students who initiate an ecological project not only help their community and planet but may be eligible for a green scholarship for environmental consciousness people . A wide variety of projects can be initiated by students: from collecting rainwater for use in watering gardens to planting native grasses or picking up garbage in protected areas. Students will write an essay about the project and will automatically be eligible for one of three $850 green environment scholarships. Any such student from the ages of 13-21 who exhibits a desire and leadership to save the wilderness will be considered. The deadline for entry is late December for the following school year.

Singer John Denver and Thomas Crum co-founded The Windstar Foundation which awards several undergraduate environmental scholarships for green students and one graduate scholarship “”To inspire individuals to make responsible choices and take direct personal actions to achieve a peaceful and environmentally sustainable future.” The undergraduate green scholarships are $500 while the graduate scholarship is awarded to students in their second year of graduate school and is $1000. Applicants should have a college GPA of 3.0 or better in their selected major of Environmental Studies, Environmental Engineering or some other major focused on environmental studies. Hard copy applications are no longer accepted and electronic application must be received by June 1, 2011.

The Dr. Wesley Eckenfelder Scholarship honors its namesake’s contributions to the environment. College juniors, seniors, or those in a graduate program to study chemical, civil or environmental engineering or an environmental science may be eligible for the $5,000 green scholarship. The environment scholarship is funded by Brown and Caldwell, a private U.S. environmental company. Its principals of simplicity, economy and innovation drive the company’s philosophy and its sponsorship of this scholarship for being green conscious. Applications are accepted until January 31.

The organic foods company Annie’s Homegrown strives to grow and market natural foods to its customers. Their philosophy: Planet to Food, Food to People, and People to Planet sustains the company as well as Annie’s Sustainable Scholarships in Agriculture. This year $75,000 in environment scholarships will be provided to support future farmers in their education and profession. Winners are announced in April.

2011 marks the 12th Annual Brower Youth Awards which reward six outstanding leaders in the areas of conservation, preservation and restoration of the planet. Each recipient of a $3000 green scholarship must be between the ages of 13-22, live in North America and must have organized an environmental project. The environmental scholarship for green students is funded by the Earth Island Institute which also sends the recipients to San Francisco for a weekend which pairs environmental concern and leadership development together. Individuals will attend training and conferences that boost knowledge and skills in these areas. Applications for the 2011-2012 school year must be submitted online by May 16th, 2011.

There are numerous unknown green scholarships available for environmentally conscious students. While not all require an academic emphasis for monetary eligibility, most do seem to prefer students who are passionate enough in their concerns for the planet to seek further education and employment in some area of environmental studies. In addition to typical green scholarships, you should also look for internships or funded practical experience. Since environmentalists want to encourage students to enter similar fields, many businesses will offer paid student positions which help financial need but also give you practical experience which will set you apart from other students when entering the job market.

Family Scholarships Unknown and Hidden

Family Scholarships are offered in many different forms for many different reasons and are really unknown scholarships because they’re hidden out of sight.

Family Scholarships

Family Scholarships are offered in many different forms for many different reasons and are really unknown scholarships to most all students because they’re so obscure and hidden out of sight. They may be here today and gone tommorrow too. There are many of them, but finding them is difficult and you may most often see them in a news blurb on the internet. You may have a good chance of winning them because of these reasons as the competition may be low as well as the number of applicants as well.

Often a family college scholarship are offered in the memory of a loved one who may have passed on due to some illness, or for a member of a family which was interested in a particular field and was actively involved in their goals. As it is a family scholarship is pretty common, students looking into this catagory will find a lot of various offerings once you start to unearth them. However, the matter is not always simply cut and dry. Many family scholarships are offered for particular fields or only in local areas, making access to these programs very selective.

Students interested in a family scholarship should look their options over carefully in order to make sure that they meet all of the criteria for the program. Those students who may be looking for a family scholarship for college should start looking locally first making searches with phrases like “family scholarships Florida” or even more specific “family scholarships Houston, TX.” While there are many family scholarships that are offered locally, students should also consider looking at the national level, though they should also expect these programs to be incredibly competitive.

Finally, family scholarships are also often offered through more broadly focused foundations such as the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) which provides the Schwallie Family Scholarship Program every year. Students would be wise to look at organizations which may relate to them to see if a family scholarship exist within the groups which may be able to provide them with additional financial aid. The OAR Schwallie family scholarship awards multiple $3,000 scholarships every year to students who have been diagnosed with autism or asperger syndrome. They are offered for those students in four year universities, community colleges and attending a trade or vocational school. In order to be eligible for this program students will need to have been formally diagnosed with the condition and attending or planning to attend an institution falling under one of the afore mentioned types. All applicants will need to be enrolled at least part time while attending school and have a declared major. In order to be considered all application material must be submitted no later April 29, 2011.

Western Union family scholarships offer up awards under an initiative to provide aid for migrants, immigrants and their families. The unknown scholarship is awarded to two people from the same family. Eligibility for this family scholarship requires that applicants be at least 18 years old, been in the United States for at least seven years and be attending school for an undergraduate degree. Further restrictions are placed on locations meaning that only residents of certain cities in the United States will be eligible to apply. The two family recipients will receive a total of $1,000 to $5,000 depending on financial and educational needs. All application materials are due no later than April 21, 2011.

Some unheard of family scholarships are available only through organizations to which individuals belong. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) is an American-based employee union which offers just such a family scholarship. In order to be eligible for this program, students must be a family member of an AFSCME member in good standing. All applicants must be graduating from high school and be applying to an accredited university as a full time student in a four year program. Though the 2011 competition is closed at this time, this program is offered every year and students should look for 2012 applications to be available soon. The yearly deadline for this program is December 31.

An example of a family scholarship available only in a certain area is the Boulos Family Scholarship which is only offered for those students attending school in Maine. All applicants must be military personal who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan or are currently serving in the post 9/11 world. Awards range from $340 to $1,260. Though at this time all available money for the program has been assigned, students interested in signing up and becoming an active part of the program’s waiting list may still apply.

Unclaimed Scholarships can be Public or Private

Unclaimed scholarships are simply scholarships that either aren’t well known enough to be claimed or are too specific to be claimed by large amounts of people.

unclaimed-scholarships
Unclaimed Scholarships

College can be a fun time for students, but paying for it can be a hassle. Luckily, there are many unclaimed scholarships that can be collected to help offset the staggering price of college tuition – you just have to find them thats’s all. Unclaimed college scholarships are simply scholarships that either aren’t well known enough to be claimed, or are too specific to be claimed by large amounts of people. Unclaimed scholarships are a great source of college money as they oftentimes are quite easy to claim, but the only hard part is finding them in the first place. Many of these unclaimed scholarships are very specific and target only a small portion of the general population, and they often aren’t advertised or marketed as heavily as the more popular scholarships. This makes them harder to find, but if you do get lucky and find an unclaimed scholarship, it should be fairly easy to obtain the funds.

Unclaimed scholarships make up a small part of the scholarships available in the United States. These nameless scholarships do pose one overarching problem for many students: they are hard to find and many of them aren’t well known in the sphere of scholarships. It is well known that many unclaimed scholarships are actually more myth than reality, and many have very high requirements that most people can’t fulfill. You may be more apt to stumble upon them when searching for random scholarships then actually finding them yourself. A good rule of thumb is: the harder you look for scholarships the more likely you will uncover an unclaimed scholarship. Here’s a little help to get you started.

PUBLIC SCHOLARSHIPS
There are two types of scholarships, and the main type is a public scholarship. This is a scholarship that is open to the public and available to any student that meets its requirements. Public scholarships provide partial or full funding for undergraduate or graduate studies. Many of these have very complex application processes and often require essays in addition to questions that need to be answered. Factors that can impact your eligibility for these scholarships include your grades, your GPA, your extracurricular activities, your leadership abilities, any jobs you’ve had, in addition to what you do in your free time. The College Board provides up to one hundred and twenty college scholarships each year that are fully paid. This means the scholarship covers every aspect of college from tuition to room to board, for four full years. There are other companies that sponsor scholarships. Many of these companies are in the automotive, pharmaceutical, and retail industries. Public scholarships rarely go unclaimed, but if you’re pursing a major in a “rare” field or a field that isn’t often studied, you should be able to find quite a few scholarships that have gone unclaimed.

PRIVATE SCHOLARSHIPS
Private scholarships provide full or partial tuition reimbursement but are available only to select students. Private scholarships have the advantage of being able to set their own requirements, meaning they could be available only to African Americans or only for people that are left handed. Some workplaces also offer scholarships to children of their employees as part of the educational workplace opportunity but are not open to the public. Other sources of private scholarships include civic associations, clubs, groups, churches and other community organizations. Many private scholarships have special criteria, such as being a minority or being in a certain geographic location. You can find many unclaimed scholarships in the private catagory because it may just take inquiring about a scholarship that will allow you to get it. It could be as simple as that.

FINDING UNCLAIMED SCHOLARSHIPS
Unclaimed scholarships can be hard to find because they are usually generalized and only available for a few select students but you may randomly run across them in your scholarship search. There are a few ways to find these unacknowledged scholarships, but the most popular option include is to speak with a guidance counselor at your high school. These counselors usually have inside information that helps you find unspecified scholarships. Remember the more agressive you are in your scholarship pursuit the more inclined you are to uncover an unclaimed college scholarship.

Below are some more options for finding unclaimed scholarships:
• Parents or guardians – Ask your parents if their employers have any unnamed scholarships available. Oftentimes, these undisclosed scholarships will go unnoticed because they aren’t given much publicity and often are hidden from the general public.
• Library – Your local library is a great place to find information on unknown scholarships. Often, the librarian will have information that will prove very valuable.
• Oftentimes, the financial aid office of the college that you’re applying to will be able to assist you in finding unidentified scholarships.

Walt Disney Scholarships Unknown

While there are many obvious choices when looking for financial aid today their are those unknown scholarships such as the Walt Disney scholarships to consider.

Walt-Disney-Scholarships
Walt Disney Scholarships

While there are many obvious choices when looking for financial aid today their are those unknown scholarships such as the Walt Disney scholarships to consider. This is one place students often forget to look to which are offered by private foundations, especially from groups like Walt Disney. This is surprising because with the focus Walt Disney has on young audiences, it should be expected that they may be interested in funding academic achievement in the youth they profit so handsomely from.

Walt Disney scholarships come in many different forms, some offered directly through their Junior Achievers awards, and others sponsored from their foundation through specific institutions. Students who are looking to find a Walt Disney scholarship should always check with the university they are enrolled in to see if they participate in any programs with the Walt Disney Foundation, and if they do not, look directly over their website to see if they are eligible for the direct Junior Achievement awards. Keep in mind that although many students may not have thought to look exactly at Walt Disney, enough young people are involved in these programs to make them highly competitive.

Through the the Junior Achievement awards, Walt Disney scholarships normally exist through a couple independent projects such as the Excellence through Ethics essay contest and the Joe Francomano Scholarship. Separately, though under the Walt Disney banner, is the annual Resort Scholarships which should be considered by students as well.

The Walt Disney scholarships offered through the Junior Achievement Awards come through individual programs. One of these programs is the Excellence through Ethics essay contest in which students submit a 500 word essay looking to address an ethical issue in the world at large. This Walt Disney scholarship offers $5,000 to one winner which will be submitted to the university the chosen student is currently or is planning to attend to help pay for tuition costs. The essays are judged by considering whether or not they display a clear understanding of the use of business ethics, have a rational point of view, was original in its analysis and was well written. It is open to all high school seniors who are preparing to head off to college immediately after graduation. Though no 2011 date has been announced yet, this annual little known Disney scholarship 2011 is expected to have an April 30 deadline as it has in every previous year.

Another obscure Disney scholarship offered through the Junior Achievement Awards is the Joe Francomano Scholarship offered annually. Though it only awards a single $5,000 corporate scholarship every year, those who have won previously may renew every year for up to four years making the overall award potentially $20,000. In order to be eligible for the Joe Francomano Scholarship by Disney, students must be a high school senior preparing to graduate and enter college. An essay of less than 250 words must be submitted on a specific question relating to a current event and three letters of recommendation must be submitted for the student. The deadline for this unheard scholarship is February 1, so students should keep this in mind as they plan to apply in the next year.

Though the Walt Disney scholarships offered through the Junior Achievement awards are a great source of financial aid, they are not the only source of these programs. Every year since 2006 the Disneyland Resort Scholarship Program has awarded ten $5,000 scholarships to high school seniors preparing to head off to college. While restricted to residents of Orange County, California, this Disney scholarship 2011 represents its own great award by requiring applicants to have worked at least 100 hours in a single year in local community projects. They will also need to have at least a 3.0 grade point average and also be a graduating high school senior. The deadline for this program is January 31 annually.

Looking at all of these programs and considering the other distant Walt Disney scholarships not listed here, one thing becomes incredibly clear: they are looking for encouraging applicants from youthful demographics. If you have been heavily involved in your community, enjoy thinking about critical issues in the world at large, have a strong academic background and are preparing to head off to college after graduation from high school, the Walt Disney Corporate foundation scholarship programs are likely right up your alley. Get to know them and if you qualify – apply to them.

Special Scholarships are Unusual Scholarships

When applying for unusual special scholarships you will find that you are incredibly busy. Special college scholarships are unknown to most college students.

Special Scholarships are Unusual College Scholarships
Special Scholarships

When it comes time to start applying for unusual special scholarships, you will find that you are incredibly busy. You will also find that the ‘standard scholarships’ are highly competitive, and you may have to get creative in your search. You need to know how to find those truly unusual special scholarships that are really unknown scholarships to most college students.

Special scholarships are any unknown scholarships that are more targeted, and that fewer people are eligible for or apply to. These may be the hardest scholarships to find, for all intents and purposes, once you find them they are the easiest to win simply because fewer people are eligible for them.

To find these special college scholarships, you have to start thinking outside of the box, so to speak. For example, you may have been searching for scholarships that are based on your academic achievement or your talent as a musician. You may do better to search for some unknown scholarships that are based on your intended course of study and future career. For example, if it is your intent to work in the field of aviation maintenance, you should search for scholarships for aviation maintenance. The more you can narrow down your intended career or course of study, the better your chances will be of winning the special scholarships that you apply for.

You also need to combine attributes when searching for special scholarships. For example, if you will be studying engineering, and you are a woman, you should search for scholarships for women who will study engineering. When you do this, you will find the Michael Baker Corporation Scholarships for Women and Minority Engineering Students. Combine as many attributes that apply for you when you are conducting your searches for special scholarships.

Don’t forget the strange scholarships. These are special scholarships that have little or nothing to do with your academic achievement or field of study. Instead, they pertain to some physical characteristic or strange ability that you may possess. For example, the Tall Clubs International Scholarship is awarded to men who are taller than six foot, two inches, and females who are five feet, ten inches tall. The Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship is available to those students who are left handed for a left handed scholarship. Do you have an awesome apple pie recipe? If so, you could win $25,000 to pay for college from the Culinary Institute of America. You may even find unusual special scholarships that are awarded only to people with your last name, but you won’t know this if you don’t look.

There are special scholarships for disabled students who because of their disabilities are eligible to apply to them. For instance students who are hearing impaired can apply to deaf scholarships by the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Just think of a disability and most likely there may be an unheard of special college scholarships for it.

Then there are the special education scholarships which are for designed for teachers who will be teaching students who have many special challanges or disabilities such as ADD or physical disabilities. There are also special needs scholarships for students as well.

There are also the special forces scholarships which are specifically military related scholarships such as the air force, army, navy, marines or ROTC. This field of study is not for every one but a perfect fit for some.

Also consider certain jobs. Many fast food restaurants offer unknown special scholarships to their high school employees to help pay for college. If you work as a golf caddie, did you know that you are eligible for the Evans Scholars Foundation Scholarship? If you are entering a medical field, you can apply for the Tylenol Scholarship, which awards between $5000 and $10,000. If you are under four feet, ten inches tall, you qualify for the Billy Barty Foundation scholarship for short people.

When you start thinking outside of the box or the mainstream when you search for unusual college scholarships, and you search for special scholarships instead, you will easily find a mountain of special scholarship funds that you are eligible for simply because of whom you are, what you look like, what your interests are, what your abilities are, and more. In fact, if there are enough unique or special things about you, you could fund a four year education with unique special scholarships.

Unknown Scholarships for Special Needs
Special Needs Scholarships

Are you a special needs student? Do you have a special needs parent? What about a special needs sibling or child? If any of this applies to you, you may be eligible for some of the unknown special needs scholarships available today. Scholarships for special needs are designed for people who have disabilities, their parents, their children, or their siblings.

One example of special needs scholarships is the Minnie Pearl Scholarship Program. This is available to a high school senior who has significant or total hearing loss, holding a GPA of at least 3.0. You must be planning to attend college as a full time student and currently be a mainstreamed student. This disability scholarship awards $2500 per year, for four years. The deadline for applying occurs in March.

If you have a learning disability, there are numerous scholarships for special needs that you can apply for. One of these is the Anne Ford Scholarship, which awards $10,000 to a high school senior who will be pursuing an undergraduate degree. The deadline for applying occurs in August of each year.

If you have a severe physical disability that requires you to use a wheelchair, you need to check out the Chair Scholars Foundation. This special needs scholarship can provide you with funds between $1000 and $5000 each year for college, and there are only about 150 applicants each year, with fifteen to twenty winning scholarships. The deadline for applying occurs in February of each year.

Regardless of what your disability is, you can find special needs scholarships that fit your situation through a variety of organizations. There are even unknown scholarships available to those who have a certain disease, such as the diabetes scholarship offered through the Diabetes Scholars Foundation, for students who have diabetes. This program awards about seventeen diabetic scholarships each year, in the amount of $5000 each. The deadline for applying occurs in May of each year.

While you will be eligible for multiple special needs scholarships that are geared directly towards your disability, you also need to apply for other types of scholarships, such as those that are awarded based on academic merit, talent, skill, minority status, or heritage. Do not assume, however, that because you are disabled you have a better chance of winning these disability scholarships. Your talents as they relate to the selection criteria will be the only thing that is considered, which is why you need to apply for the little known special needs scholarships as well. If you have more than one disability, make sure that you seek out unknown scholarship opportunities for each disability that you have. For example, if you are hearing impaired and wheelchair bound, you qualify for scholarships designed for both groups.

If you or your parents are diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) which is a desease effecting the central nervous system limiting the ability to move around normally; the National MS Society Multiple Sclerosis Scholarships will help students who have high educational college aspirations.

Google has the Google Lime Scholarship for students with a disability. Goggle and LIME want to ‘increase the number of people with disabilities in the workforce’ so by offering their little known disability scholarships to the disabled they can essentially accomplish their goal.

As you can see there are numerous unknown scholarships for special needs students offered by many places you wouldn’t think to apply to for student aid. Above are just a few examples but there are hundreds more. By contacting the organization of your disability you can best find where the special needs scholarships normally are.

Converting Unclaimed Money to Easy Scholarships for College – 2

Did you know that you can turn unclaimed money into easy scholarships and it’s fast and simple to do. Turn unclaimed monies into easy unclaimed scholarships.

Finding unclaimed scholarships money to easy scholarships
Finding Unclaimed Money

This article is continued from Converting Unclaimed Money to Easy Scholarships for College…
If you do happen to find unclaimed money in other people’s names then you want to discuss this with them and ask them to assist you in paying for your education. If you are well liked, your parents or Aunts and Uncles will have no problem in giving you some or all of their newly found unclaimed monies since it’s for a good cause – your college tuition. If they went to college they will understand what you are going through and most likely give you all of their newly found unclaimed monies as sort of an easy scholarship. If your Aunt/Uncle never went to college themselves they will also be inclined to help you because this is always a deep seated desire which they never got to do and they would want you to have the opportunity!

Do you have neighbors who thought fondly of you and still do? Approach them on this. You can insert their name in the unclaimed monies search bar to see if they have any money coming to them and once you find out talk to them honestly about the situation and how you found they had unclaimed monies coming to them. You can even tell them that they can write the check out to your college for payment towards your tuition. In fact better yet drive them down to your college financial aids office and have them hand their check directly to the office making a payment on your behalf and having them (financial aid’s office) print out a receipt showing the payment was made towards your behalf and your balance remaining. You never know they may even pay more for you – this would be an unexpected easy scholarship surprise but not unlikely to happen either. Life works this way when friendships have aged over time. Afterwards take them out to lunch at a decent restaurant to show your appreciation. They will love you for it.

Some of you may be thinking that you can’t do this but you should. It’s a lot easier and more fun then applying to the many scholarships and fulfilling their requirements and criteria. This is a great way for getting easy scholarships to pay for your college on your terms the easy and fun way not to mention rekindling old relationships with Aunts, Uncles, neighbors and old friends. Remember that these are monies they most likely would never have claimed if it wasn’t for you discovering them.

There are many different approaches you can use in discussing with your parents, Aunts/Uncles, friends and neighbors your need of assistance in paying for your college tuition. Only you know which approach will work the best. I would first ask them if they had found money someplace would they give it to you for college expenses. If they say yes you’re a step away from your ‘do it yourself’ easy scholarships for college and one of the simplest ways of finding unclaimed scholarships.

Unclaimed College Money

Did you know that you can turn unclaimed money into easy scholarships – and it’s fast and simple to do too! This has to be one of the best ways for anyone in getting easy scholarships for college and there is no filling out any scholarship forms or writing essays to be evaluated by the ‘Scholarship Committee’ in deciding who will be awarded the scholarship awards. This is a ‘do it yourself’ college scholarship search and you could find unclaimed scholarship monies fast and easy all by yourself. This is not a scholarships search engine either so don’t jump to conclusions and continue reading on.

If you are well liked and thought of – then you can use your immediate as well as your extended family, Aunts/Uncles even friends and neighbors in helping you pay for your college tuition bill. It’s an unknown unusual way of getting easy scholarships but it works.

When someone is awarded a scholarship they receive monies from the sponsor to pay for their college tuition, books, room and board or any other college related expense even gas for your car which takes you to class each day. It’s free money given to a student to be used in paying for an education which today happens to be very costly indeed. In fact most college students have student loans which will have to be paid back after they graduate. They have them whether they like it or not because if a student wants a college education and has their heart set on a particular college they must pay for it and a student loan will satisfy this want or need of a higher education when the parents don’t or can’t pay for it. It’s really that simple. Let’s take a closer look on how you can obtain some unclaimed scholarships from unclaimed monies the fast and easy way.

This will be a textbook lesson in working the quick smart way which is what you should always strive for because you will be using your time wisely – and attending college requires you to do this daily. You can have other people helping you out and they will be actually very happy to help you because most everyone is willing to help someone else out for an education.

There is an unclaimed money search engine which you insert your name and it does a quick unclaimed money search for you in five seconds. This is all free to do and if you find out that your name has no unclaimed monies to claim do not stop there. Insert your mom and dad’s name along with anyone else you feel would help you out for your college tuition. If the name you insert has unclaimed monies then it will tell you so. Just keep on inserting names and you will eventually see that their are monies which are owed to the persons name you put in the search bar. If there is an amount which shows up you will have to pay a processing fee to find out the information required to claim these monies. When last checked the processing fee was $11.00 which was a special and it could fluctuate higher. You have 30 days to perform unlimited unclaimed money checks.

The Unknown Elks Scholarship Programs

The Elks Scholarship awards have three different types of Elks National Scholarship Plans which are offered through the Elks National Foundation.

Elks National Scholarship
Elks National Scholarship

The Elks Scholarship awards have three different types of Elks National Scholarship Plans which are offered through the Elks National Foundation. They tend to be unknown scholarships because most people don’t associate the Elks Lodge with scholarships. Besides being one of the largest financial supporters of a college education you may be asking yourself “but who are the Elks and what are they all about”?

The Elks is a multi faceted organization dedicated to one goal, that of the betterment of our communities. There are few more worthy ways to better our future than to invest in the education of our future leaders and to that end the Elks National Foundation grants over 3.60 million dollars in Elks Scholarships across the nation per year. Even though the Elks National scholarships are distributed nationally all applications and funds go through the local Elks lodge making the process more personal and geared to the needs of the youth of the community.

The Elks were founded on the ideal of service to mankind. In a 1928 speech Elks President John F. Malley envisioned a mighty army for good united to serve mankind. Elks achieve this by investing in their communities. They invest time, money, effort and their focus is diverse. Youth of course are the promise of tomorrow and volunteers from the local, state and national level invest their time to further that dream. Community service, volunteering and furthering the goals of the group are a strong focus of all Elks members.

The Elks Scholarships

The Legacy Scholarships by the Elks benefit students of current Elk members in good standing and these scholarships vary in size. Normally up to 250 $4,000 ($1,000 per year for 4 years) scholarships are awarded annually for Legacy Elks scholarships. You can apply from September 1st of every year.

The Most Valuable Student Scholarships sponsored by the Elks award 500 scholarships across the nation ranging in amounts of $1,000 per year to $15,000 per year over a four-year period and are for students who excel both in character, charity and scholastic ability. You can apply September 1st online every year. You do not have to be related to a member of the Elks to apply for this Elk scholarship.

Emergency Educational Grants from the Elks are available to children of deceased or fully disabled Elks Members. These awards are from $1,000 to $3,000 yearly and they are renewable. You can apply anytime from July 1st to December 31st.

The two below Elk sponsored unknown scholarships are also offered to Scouts and can be applied to at your local Elk club lodge. They are restrictive in nature in that only scouts who have reached the highest level of scouting possible can only apply.

The Elks National Foundation Scholarship awards The Elks Eagle Scout Scholarships which are (4) $8,000 & (4) $4,000 scholarships. You must apply before February 28th. This Elks lodge scholarship is for those scouts who have reached a ‘eagle scout’ status to apply only. Must be a high school senior to apply.

The Elks Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarships are for those girl scouts who have reached the highest ranking possible in Girl Scouting – The Gold Award. There will be (8) $6,000 Elk club scholarship awards. Must be a high school senior to apply.

The Elks Scholarship Programs are for undergraduate study only. All scholarship funds are paid directly to the school except in certain conditions. If the scholarship funds are to be used against attendance expenses such as dorm rooms the student must have the University or college issue a certificate of attendance and that must be forwarded to the Chicago Elks, a check will then be issued to the school for credit for the student. All scholarship awards from Elks National Scholarship will also come with a certificate of award, except for the Emergency Educational Grants. You must be a high school senior to apply for the Most Valuable Student Scholarships and the Legacy Elks Scholarships. To apply to the Emergency Educational Grants Elk Scholarship you must be under the age of 23. It’s definitely worth becoming a member of the Elks even if you are not awarded an Elks Club Scholarship because of the many useful benefits which this club offers for families. To read more about joining go to the Elks Club.

Elks Scholarship checks are generally issued through the months of June July and August. Applications for an Elks scholarship must be made directly through the local Elks lodge and it will be forwarded to the national office to be evaluated.

Information concerning applications for the unknown Elks Scholarships can be obtained through the local Elks chapter or for more information about the Elks Scholarship programs an email can be sent to scholarship@elks.org. High school counselors or financial aid counselors at college will also have information concerning Elks Scholarship applications and requirements.

How to Find Unclaimed Scholarships for College

Are you looking for unclaimed scholarships for your college? A lot of money goes unclaimed or unused. But how can one get one of these unknown scholarships.

Unknown and Unclaimed Scholarships for College
Unclaimed Scholarships

Are you looking for unclaimed scholarships for your college? Everyone’s heard that each year a pretty good amount of money goes unclaimed or unused. But how can one get one of these unclaimed scholarships. Where can you find them, what are their requirements and why don’t many students apply for them?

The thing is that most of these unclaimed scholarships are given away for weird reasons or have odd requirements so they remain unused scholarships because no one can seem to match the criteria. Nonetheless, if you need support to get yourself though college, then you should take a look at them and see if any of these unspecified scholarships can be right just for you.

For example, if you enjoy nudist, you can get a scholarship offered by the American Nudist Research Library. All you have to do to get $1,000 is write a short essay and be a part of a nudist organization for at least three years. I can see how a nude scholarship can easily go unclaimed. No wondering here.

You can even get a scholarship for being left-handed. But in order to apply for this little known scholarship you must study at the Juniata College in Huntingdon. This may be little too restrictive for most students.

Other unheard about scholarships are available for tall people. Girls that want to apply for one of these height scholarships must be at least 5’10”, while boys must measure 6’2″ or more in order to qualify.

The following tips will help you to find an unclaimed or unknown scholarships that you can get and that suits you best:

• Assess your hobbies, your talents etc and then search for scholarships that are related to what you’re interested in. Figure out some unique feature or assets you might have that are required in order to get an unclaimed scholarship.
• Secondly, you need to do some research on the eligibility criteria. Apply accordingly based on the criteria and make sure that not many people know about the scholarship.
• You can also search for these types of unknown scholarships with the help of Google. Try searching for unclaimed, or unknown scholarships and you might find one that you’d be guaranteed to get.
• Don’t wait too long before searching for these undisclosed scholarships since you may miss the submission dates. It is recommended to start your research ahead of time.
• Most businesses and corporations award money to the students to maintain a positive image in the community. Check with these businesses and try to get funds suitable for you.
• You can also check with your financial aid office at you college. There are chances of getting some pointers with regard to finding unclaimed scholarships.

If you really want to get money for your education, then you will have to work hard in searching for the obscure, unknown and unidentified scholarships. You just need to be a detective and investigate to unlock that secret money even if you have to call the colleges directly. To keep you interested in doing this daily; remember that if you find financial aid for yourself you just got reimbursed for all your hard research work.

The Truth about Unknown and Unused Scholarships going Unclaimed

Unused scholarships are unclaimed because many college scholarships are unknown to students so they never apply. Awarded scholarships never are used by others.

Unused Scholarships
Unused Scholarships

There are essentially two types of unused scholarships. The first type is the unused scholarship money that people don’t apply for; either because of extremely rigid requirements, or because they aren’t aware that they are available, and more commonly because they don’t think that they stand a chance of winning the scholarship.

The second group is the unused college scholarships that are actually applied for and awarded, but then not used by the student. In terms of the second type, however, those unclaimed scholarship dollars are typically rolled over back into the originial scholarship fund, or awarded to other students as they become available. It is the first type that you need to know about.

The first reason that students do not apply for these unusued scholarships is because they don’t think that they could possibly win, with the competition involved, even if they meet all of the criteria. This is always a mistake. If you meet the eligibility requirements for a college scholarship, you need to apply. Never think of this as a waste of time. Remember that for most scholarships, a certain number of each scholarship is awarded every year. When there are strict eligibility requirements, or a complicated application process, fewer students will apply. What this essentially means is that often, there are fewer applicants than there are awards available, and this works in your favor. If you meet the requirements, and you go through the application process, in this instance, you pretty much have a guaranteed scholarship.

Surprisingly, students are largely unaware of many unknown scholarships that are available in their own community. Some high schools have taken the initiative to release lists of these local little known scholarships to their students, so that they are aware of them, but few have done this to date. When the student talks about financial aid with their high school guidance counselor, they need to ask specifically about local scholarships that are available along with state scholarships too. Encourage your school to put together a list of the local college scholarships that are available, so that more students can get financial aid, and there will be far fewer unused and unknown scholarships that go unclaimed for college.

Parents should check with their employers, unions, and any organizations that they belong to in order to find out about any little known scholarships that are available. Scholarship opportunities such as these are not always advertised. You should also check with your church to see if they sponsor any christian scholarships, and check with any type of organization that students belong to for any potential hidden scholarships. Sometimes, just being a member of an organization makes your eligible, but because so many people do not know this, there are a large number of unused scholarships each and every year.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that standard scholarships only go to the most advanced students, or to the financially poorest students. This isn’t so. While some scholarships grants are designed for the very brightest, or the very poor, this isn’t true of most scholarships. Also, don’t assume that you are automatically eligible for a scholarship and that you don’t have to apply. With just a little investigation into what is available, you can greatly increase the awards that you get to pay for your education with the many unused scholarships that go unclaimed each year. Find as many of these unknown, hidden and secret college scholarships available today and see what sticks. This will make your college financial ride a little more enjoyable.

It’s helpful to find a piece of advice to help pay for college, or some scholarship secrets to help you find some of those unknown or hidden scholarships.

Scholarship-Secrets | Hidden-Scholarships
Scholarship Secrets

It’s always helpful to find a little piece of advice to help pay for college, or some scholarship secrets to help you find some of those unknown or hidden scholarships you sometimes hear about. Are their really any scholarship secrets or a hidden scholarship in which you discover and that will pay you some money towards college tuition? There is a good case in looking as hard as you can for some type of scholarship, grant, or financial aid. There is one quick way to check, but this is not all of it.

It does not require an economist to tell us how rough the economy has been for quite sometime. The cost of going to college has gone through the roof, and throw in the recession with the expanding jobless rate and post high school tuition options seem bleak. This financial breakdown has sent students scurrying in attempts of finding some type of assistance. For many students a secret or hidden scholarship is their only avenue to a college education besides school loans which upon graduation the loans await you to pay off… YUG!

There are scholarships out there and that is no secret but you have to know what you need to do to qualify and how to be chosen for one. Winning a scholarship does not take some secret method passed down through the generations. It takes organization and the ability to do the right thing at the right time.

If you really want to prepare yourself to earn a standard scholarship it has to start when you are young even as far back as elementary school. Parents have to start molding their children into college students of tomorrow. Students need to push to show academic excellence right from the beginning and never let it slip. If students can show that they have been academically inclined since grade school those issuing scholarships will see that they were educationally ambitious throughout their lives.

As much as the scholarship committees focus on academics they often concentrate just as hard on applicants’ community involvement. It is vital that all students who aspire to attend college get involved in outstanding school programs and activities that form a resume of active involvement. It is just as important to volunteer in their community and help to make it a better place. All of this displays leadership and a genuine concern for those who share the world around you.

Technology has made finding hidden or secret scholarships a much more pleasant task. The age of the computer and the worldwide Internet has opened the doors that took an unpleasant amount of time in the past. Students seeking a hidden scholarship can go online and find hundreds of available scholarships. Finding scholarships is only half of the battle. The true test derives from applying for them. Applicants should always have a well prepared resume demonstrating all of their personal success in academics, awards received and school and community involvement. In addition, they should always have a strong essay available listing their career objectives. Students should also have strong reference letters to support their recommendation for the scholarship. These letters and essays go a long way in selling who you are and what you’re about to the scholarship committees.

It does not take some secret scholarship to get a college education. It takes hard work and dedication towards the process of obtaining a scholarship. The process normally begins early in grade school and proceeds right through the senior year in high school. It takes active involvement in school and community programs. It requires a strong resume with excellent letters of reference. There are no hidden scholarships, just secrets towards getting a regular one.

What if you didn’t get the best of grades to allow you to apply for many of the standard scholarships? Well, you still may have a chance. You may have to start calling the colleges you most likely want to attend from the most preferred to the least, because the most preferred may not offer any aid for you and then you move down your list and call to see what the next school may provide for you. What I prefer is to set an appointment in person to meet with the financial aid guidance counselor. This is the best because you can pick up valuable advice which will steer you closer to your scholarship/aid goal.

If you are crunched for time then you may want to do a quick & easy scholarship search. You should not pay for this but many places try to get you to pay. You can go do a scholarship search on this scholarship search engine which is free and seems to be the one most recommended today. You can read more about it at finding student loan scholarships.

I guess the best scholarship secret is that you can find something if you keep on looking and don’t stop until you find your unknown scholarship or hidden scholarship that has always been there. You just had to find it that’s all. It was an unclaimed scholarship before you found it.

The many other unknown scholarships for Eagle Scouts, which are too abundant to mention, may offer from $100.00 to $300.00 and come from various organizations both small and large. Those, you have to research to find out if those places still are offering the Eagle Scouts scholarships. This seems to change from year to year, depending if there was any Eagle Scout college scholarships money allocated for that year from that specific organization.

The two preeminent types of nationally awarded scholarships for Eagle Scouts presented annually by the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA), are academic scholarships and merit based scholarships. The National Eagle Scout Association and Mabel and Lawrence S. Cooke Scholarships provide the academic scholarships. The Merit based Eagle Scout scholarships are sponsored by the Hall/McElwain Merit Scholarships. The academic Eagle scholarship will have emphasis on academic achievements as well as your actualization of becoming an Eagle Scout. The Merit Eagle Scout scholarship primary focus is on the high level of realization from becoming an Eagle Scout, an extreme level of accomplishment indeed.  There are also other Eagle Scout scholarships offered by the NESA which are categorized as Religious, Civic/Military and Institution-Specific.

Academic Scout Scholarship Details

There are four $20,000 scholarships to be used over (4) years college, and a $48,000 scholarship, also to be used over four years, along with a number of other. A miscellaneous number of 3,000 scholarships are also awarded in the academic based category too.

Merit based Eagle Scout Scholarships

A number of $1,000 scholarships are presented every year and are selected from the various Boy Scout regions based on recommendations from the same. Eagle Scouts must be graduating high school and entering college in the year they apply for the National Eagle Scout Association scholarships. The NESA reports that they receive approximately 5000 applications yearly and less than 100 are awarded. Don’t let this discourage you from applying though. Many times we’ve heard that people who applied thought they never thought they had a chance to win. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Apply the original Boy Scout motto “Do your best” and get your application in. The submission deadline for the NESA scout scholarship application is January 31, 2009.

Religious Eagle Scout Scholarships

Emmett J. Doerr Memorial Distinguished Scout scholarships presented by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting. Awards of $1,000 to $2,500 to (3) deserving Catholic high-school seniors who are currently registered and active in Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, or Venturing. March 1st deadline.

Civic/Military Eagle Scout Scholarships

American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year awards (1) $10,000 scholarship to its Eagle Scout of the Year, and (3) second-place scholarships of $2,500 each. March 1st is the deadline.

Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Scholarship presented by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. Three scholarships are awarded: $8,000 (1st place), $4,000 (2nd place), and $2,000 (3rd place). Deadline will vary by state and chapter.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Scout of the Year presented by The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. One $5,000 Scout scholarship annually. The deadline is March 1st.

Institution-Specific Eagle Scout scholarships can be viewed by going to:  http://www.nesa.org/institutions.html. This is continually updated and many institutions participate, with some (17) at last count. These institutions are all Colleges who place a high value on scouting in one’s life and award that. Both Boy Scout and Girl Scout scholarships are available at most of these institutions.

Although, there are many other entities that provide hundreds of unknown scholarships for Eagle Scouts, as well as Girl Scout scholarships, the NESA scholarships listed above are sanctioned by the National Eagle Scout Association. These other unknown Scout scholarships may not be given out consistently every year by these entities, and they may not be worth the trouble looking into since their award amounts may be very low.

Eagle Scouts have always followed the Boy Scout motto of “Do your best”. Never has their been a better reward for following this golden Scout rule then an Eagle Scout scholarship to college!
